    Why I love to coach:
I believe that as a coach and as a teacher, our first responsibility is to be an example. I believe our example isn’t the most important thing, but the only thing. In coaching, I see my job as a mentor and role model more important than the "X’s and O’s." A successful coach and teacher is able to impact the lives of the players/students long after they leave the court. Of course it is a priority to be successful in competition; I feel that the winning happens as a result of proper planning and preparation. If we are molding youth with the right values and work ethic, then they will want to prepare the way necessary to be successful. I like to build relationships with my student athletes. I feel it is a coach’s responsibility to take an interest in other activities that your student athletes participate in. My wife and I love to support plays, band, and other sports. I think building that atmosphere, where we all support each other, makes the decision to go the extra mile for your team that much more attractive. I have players who have come through my programs that are now playing college basketball. It is awesome to still be able to have a relationship with them. I am able to lend advice and just be an ear for them to talk to.
